Pride season is upon us! Every year in June, New York City celebrates LGBTQIA+ Pride throughout the five boroughs, culminating in the NYC Pride March on the final Sunday of June, which commemorates the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising that shaped the queer rights movement in the United States and worldwide.
Though Pride started as a protest against unequal treatment, and still represents that for many in our community, it is also a celebration of our achievements, a chance to express ourselves, an opportunity to learn about and connect with our community, and so much more.
This year, Brooklyn Community Pride Center is participating in Pride month with a number of in-house events. We are also participating in pride festivals and parades produced by other organizations and teaming up with community partners and local businesses to sponsor events throughout Brooklyn. We hope you’ll join us for one or more of these excellent opportunities to celebrate Pride! Stay tuned for updates…
