Erin Drinkwater Named Executive Director of the Brooklyn Community Pride Center
Brooklyn Community Pride Center Names Executive Director
March 21, 2012, Brooklyn, NY: The Brooklyn Community Pride Center has named Erin Drinkwater as its Executive Director. Ms. Drinkwater brings more than a decade of leadership experience as an activist, advocate and strategist. Prior to joining the Brooklyn Community Pride Center, Ms. Drinkwater served as co-President of Lambda Independent Democrats; Downstate Director of Pride in Action for the Empire State Pride Agenda; Congressman Jerrold L. Nadler’s Manhattan Community Representative and LGBT Liaison; and as Policy Director for Sean Patrick Maloney.
“The Brooklyn Community Pride Center is an exciting and long overdue project for the only borough without an LGBT center. This facility represents a tremendous opportunity to deliver needed services, support and community,” said Drinkwater. “It will be a real partnership between civic leaders, our partner organizations dedicated to serving the LGBT community, and the many leaders and activists who have already helped to bring the center so far. I look forward to collaborating with all of them, and to working with and for all of Brooklyn’s LGBT community.”
“We’re thrilled to have Erin at the helm of the Brooklyn Community Pride Center” said Michael Burke, President of the Pride Center Board of Directors. “Her knowledge of our diverse community combined with her leadership experience will be a tremendous resource as the Pride Center enters its next, exciting chapter of growth.”
Founded in 2008, the Brooklyn Community Pride Center’s mission is to provide a safe, common space offering physical and mental health services, social support, recreational and cultural programming, as well as being a hub of information for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals and families in Brooklyn.
Drinkwater will be formally introduced at the Brooklyn Community Pride Center’s annual Founders’ Ball on Thursday, March 29 at Deity, located at 368 Atlantic Avenue. More information can be found here: Time To Celebrate- Founders Ball 2012
