TRANSGENDER DAY OF REMEMBRANCE MARCH ON BROOKLYN BRIDGE

WHEN: SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2011 at 4:00 PM (march at 4:30)
WHERE: City Hall, Manhattan on Centre St in front of Brooklyn Bridge Promenade
DIRECTIONS: 4, 5, 6, J, or Z, and get off at Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall

IF YOU CANNOT MARCH please join us at 6:00 pm for the reading of the names in Brooklyn in front of Borough Hall  at 209 Joralemon Street at the front entrance of Borough Hall at the steps. Take the 2, 3, 4, 5, M, and R to Court Square-Borough Hall

Join the Brooklyn Community Pride Center as we walk from Manhattan to Brooklyn across the iconic Brooklyn Bridge to honor those who have lost their lives due to hate crimes against the transgender community.

MAKE IT LOCAL! A great percentage of New York City’s transgender and gender-nonconforming communities live in Brooklyn, and so we will honor our community by organizing in Brooklyn. We’re tired of the continued invisibility of the transgender and gender-nonconforming communities and taking a stand against the ignorance and violence our community faces.

We will end the walk at Borough Hall where we will gather and read off the names of those who have lost their lives due to violence in 2011.

IF YOU CANNOT MARCH please join us for the reading of the names in Brooklyn in front of Borough Hall for the reading of the names at 209 Joralemon Street at the front entrance of Borough Hall at the steps. Take the 2, 3, 4, 5, M, and R to Court Square-Borough Hall

Choosing Fulfillment: Learning to make the right choices

This is an integrative psychotherapy group for gay male
individuals who want to steer their lives progress forward by making positive
choices and avoiding the potholes of repetitive patterns and non-productive
pull.

With 10-12 gay men, led by a licensed and practiced gay
psychotherapist, we will explore the causes of loneliness, lack of fulfillment,
disconnect and fear of intimacy that are often a part of young or maturing gay
life. We will teach how to give and receive healthy feedback in a way that heightens
self esteem. We will talk about overcoming anxiety, moodiness and depressive
thoughts. Getting ahead at work or making a contributive difference in
retirement. Our successes as well as our flops. How homophobia effects our
self-images. We will learn from each other.

We will talk about sex of all kinds-sex without shame, sex
while living with AIDS, sex for seniors, compulsive sex, ways to achieve good
sex and ways to stop using sex to act oout.

Beginning January 23, 2012, a new cycle of the
“Choosing Fulfillment” Group will meet weekly on Mondays at 7:15 pm
for ten weeks in a convenient downtown Brooklyn location. A weekly fee will be
contributed by each group member each session toward the Brooklyn Community
Pride Center to further their Wellness programming for LGBT of all ages in
Brooklyn.
